Each One Reach One

In the year 2010, statistics showed that nine million children under the age of five (5) die needlessly, more than half will come from hunger related issues, amounting to 1000 per hour and approximately 25000 per day.
According to Nigeria’s data, Nigeria is a country of the young with almost half the entire 180million strong population, 46 percent, currently under the age of 15. The current total for children under the age of 5 in Nigeria stands at approximately 31million, while each year at least 7 million babies are born. While a little over one-third of Nigeria’s whole lives below the poverty line, amongst children, this proportion surges to 75%.
Furthermore, the United Nations says 2.5million Nigerian children are starving and only about 20% of them get help. Over 900,000 die annually. The question is, are these lives not more precious than anything we can think of?
Nigeria is Africa’s wealthiest, most populous nation, and has the fastest growing economy. Despite that, more than half the country live below the poverty line, and the northern Nigeria suffers the world’s third highest level of chronic under-nutrition amongst children.
Since 2012, northeastern Nigeria has faced a lot of insecurity due to conflicts with the Boko Haram insurgent group. As a result, about 7.1million are in need of assistance urgently, while, 1.8 million people in the conflict affected areas are internally displaced. As estimated, 823,000 people live in areas inaccessible to international humanitarian organizations.
More than 1million children between the ages of six months and 5years are acutely malnourished across the affected areas. One in 5 children with severe acute malnutrition and one in 15 children with moderate acute malnutrition and are at risk of death if untreated.
Now prior to the above statistics, it shows that every patriotic citizen of this country should help at least a child in any possible way, either through scholarships, clothing, shelter, food and voluntary lessons. Remember, charity begins at home and your home is the entire human race, so EACH ONE SHOULD REACH ONE…
